Apparently I broke my nose... at least 3 times

Next week I go in for day surgery, septoplasty and cautery of turbinates. Lots of long fancy words. Basically I'm getting my nose fixed.

About 4 years ago I realized that breathing through my nose was getting a little challenging, I just chalked it up to being really bad allergies all the time. Finally after dealing with it for so long I went to the doctor almost 2 years ago and was referred to an ENT specialist in Burnaby (we were living in Burnaby at the time).

I was quickly asked by the specialist if I ever broke my nose after he did some examinations, I said not to my knowledge. I've never had one of those moments where you hear a crack and a gush of blood follows. He proceeded to inform me that it appears I've broken my nose 3 or more times from the damage that has been done. WHAT? How can it be that I never realized I'd broken my nose? He also noted that I have bad allergies and I was referred to an allergy specialist that day too.

I used to play volleyball and basketball in school, I am also a major clutz. I've been hit in the face by different sports equipment, walked into things, or even just rolled over in bed and smashed my face into the wall. It really shouldn't surprise me that I have broken my nose at some point.

I was booked for surgery September 2011, unfortunately it got cancelled the day of after I had been sitting in the hospital for almost 8 hours already connected to an IV and all that fun stuff. I left a little upset because all I wanted was to be able to breathe properly through my nose again. You see I've slowly become a "mouth breather", poor Jason has had to put up with my snoring that has since followed with breathing through my nose getting much more difficult.

On Monday,March 4th I am going in for my surgery, we are hoping and praying that all goes well and that I heal quickly. My mom is coming to watch Everly for the day, and Jason will be going with me to the hospital. Jason also has the next day off from work. Hopefully if we need backup with a munchkin the rest of the week some people may be available as I am slightly worried about getting smacked in the face after by Everly. Who wants to watch a munchkin if need be? (*warning: rain poncho may be needed as Everly does spit up*)
